National League for Democracy (NLD) spokesperson Dr. Myo Nyunt had denied rumors that the soon-to-retire Vice-President Henry Van Thi will be replaced either by Mandalay Region Chief Minister Dr. Zaw Myint Maung or Yangon Region Chief MInister Phyo Min Thein.

An online news social media Facebook page “Pyi Thu Khit” on January 29 wrote that Mandalay Region Chief Minister Dr. Zaw Myint Maung and Yangon Region Chief Minister Phyo Min Thein have been nominated to succeed the position of vice-president Henry Van Thio.

"Some people want to tarnish NLD’s image so they spread this kind of rumors. They want the NLD government to face challenges and over encumbered by them," said NLD spokesperson Dr. Myo Nyunt.

Pyi Thu Khit media wrote allegedly that a meeting between NLD central executive committee and MPs was held at the Nay Pyi Taw Municipal guest house on January 28, citing NLD member May Win Myint as the source.

May Win Myint, who also represents Mayangone Township, had denied her role in this. She also claimed that she will discuss with her party first before deciding whether to take legal action against the online media page for false allegations.

"I want to charge that media but I cannot afford to spend time going to court. I don't know what decision will be made for me by the NLD. In front of 400 NLD party members, I acted as the master of ceremony on that day. Nothing more," said MP May Win Myint.
