Narcotic drugs worth nearly $2 bn seized in Shan State

More than 200 million kyats worth drugs in Naungcho township, Northern Shan State, and 1.6 billion kyats worth ICE in Kunhein township, Kali were seized according to the Drug Eradication Squad,  as per information given on 18 November.    

Members of the Drug Eradication Squad under tip off checked a Lifan car at the entrance to Shwe Nyaunglebin village on the Naungcho-Mandalay road on 16 Nov about 9.30am. Hidden in a specially designed compartment in the floor were 14.3 kilos of heroin and 16000 tabs of amphetamine to be taken to Mandalay for sale there.     

Perpetrators of this crime, Chit Myo Khine and Soe Khine were booked under the Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.     

Likewise on the same day at 1.30pm, a TOYOTA HiAce, driven by Kyaw San Maung, was checked at the Tarkaw inspection gate, Kali town, Kunhein township, Southern Shan State. Upon inspection 80 kilos of ICE was discovered on the roof rack and pouches attached to the doors. Further investigation revealed that the owner of the substance was Lau Sai from 4th ward, Maishu. He was apprehended at his house at 5pm.    

The culprits, Kyaw San, 47 years, and Kau Sai, 28 years, were booked under the Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, and the drugs would be taken from Maishu to Tachileik.
