Nantpanga bridge on Ketthar-Aung Zeya-Tamu road, connecting upper Chindwin in Sagaing Region and India, was commissioned into service on January 17.

The opening ceremony was attended by Sagaing Region Chief Minister Dr. Myint Naing, other ministers from the Sagaing Region and MPs from Homalin Township.

"The Nantpanga bridge is on Ketthar-Aung Zeya-Tamu road. It will  provide border trade access with townships in upper Chindwin and India. People from Homalin and Ketthar village can also now use this bridge for all year round. The bridge will assist in upgrading of health, education, economy and social works. By using this road, it will take only 3 hours to reach Tamu. People from Naga Self-administrative regions and upper Sagaing Region can also now use this bridge to transport their goods to Moreh and Manipur in India. We will soon upgrade this bridge and this road to become a border trade route. We have allotted Ks 1174.759 million for upgrading this road," said Dr. Myint Naing.

"Now that the Chindwin bridge (Homalin) and this Nantpanga bridge have been constructed, we can easily access Indian border towns such as Tamyand Kalay all the year round. We can export our goods to India and goods from there can also be imported. I hope that border trade will soon develop. But on Ketthar-Aung Zeya-Tamu road is still not good to travel. The road need repairs," said a local of Homalin.

The Nantpanga bridge is 990 feet long and 22 feet wide. it has begun construction in September 2016 using Ks.2349.4 million.
