Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, received Mr. Chu Cong Phung, Chairman of the Vietnam-Myanmar Friendship Association, and his delegation on October 16.
During the meeting, both sides discussed Myanmar’s current political developments, preparations for holding a free and fair election, and the invitation extended to international election observation teams. They also exchanged views on strengthening bilateral friendship and cooperation between Myanmar and Vietnam, as well as Vietnam’s assistance to Myanmar following the recent Mandalay earthquake.
The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in agriculture, livestock, production, and tourism sectors, and promoting trade and investment between the two countries.
Also present at the meeting were Commission Secretary and Joint Executive Chief General Ye Win Oo, Union Minister for Transport and Communications U Mya Tun Oo, and Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs U Ko Ko Kyaw. Mr. Chu Cong Phung was accompanied by delegation members from the Vietnam-Myanmar Friendship Association.
