Myanmar still allows flights from Beijing and Shanghai to land: Official

Flights from Beijing and Shanghai are still allowed to land at Yangon International Airport (YIA) although flights from Wuhan are suspended, said Dr Myint Htwe, Union Minister for Health and Sports on January 27.

“There are 26 flights from Beijing and Shanghai landed at the YIA, Mandalay International Airport and Nay Pyi Taw International Airport. We are still monitoring the situation. We will hold a meeting with Ministry of Transportation and Communications and other ministries at Nay Pyi Taw in concerned with Coronavirus,” said the union minister.

Till January 25, the numbers of total confirmed cases are 1,985 in China, three in Japan, two in South Korea, three in France, one in Nepal, three in Malaysia and four in Australia. The confirmed deaths in China are 42 and death rate is 2.08 per cent among the patients.

Health authorities are prepared Waibargi Hospital and the information about Coronavirus is added in mobile tablets provided by the ministry. People should not believe too much about news shared in Facebook, said the minister.

The screening works are performed strictly at airports and border gates and no suspect patient is found yet, according to the ministry.

Epidemics such as severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), avian influenza, Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS), Eibola virus and Zeka virus are threatened the whole world.
