The President’s Office announced on April 11 (Order No. 38/2026) the formation of the National Solidarity and Peace-making Negotiation Committee (NSPNC), chaired by Lt-Gen Yar Pyae.
The committee is tasked with leading peace talks and implementing policies set by the central peace body. Lt-Gen Min Naing will serve as secretary, with Col. Wunna Aung as joint secretary, alongside senior ministers, military officials, and other members.
Its main responsibilities include coordinating peace processes, working with local and international partners, supporting national reconciliation efforts, and advancing implementation of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA). The committee will also encourage non-signatory ethnic armed groups to join the NCA and contribute to building a democratic federal union.
Additionally, it will oversee cooperation among government bodies, ethnic organizations, civil society, and international stakeholders, while reporting progress to the central committee.
