More than 8900 anti-venom used in Ayeyawady

The government hospitals in Ayeyawady Region used 8,981 anti-venom dose in 2017-2018 fiscal year, said Dr. Hla Myat Thway, Ayeyawady Region Social Affairs Minister.

In replying to the question raised by MP Dr. Soe Thein from Ngaputaw Township Constituency-1, Dr. Hla Myat Thway said that below-100-bed hospitals got 10,740 anti-venom—7,300 anti-venom for 2017-2018 FY and 3,440 for the minibudget in 2018. These hospitals used 4,040 anti-venom. Over-100-bed hospitals got 6040 anti-venom—4,010 anti-venom for 2017-2018 FY and 2,030 for the minibudget in 2018. These hospitals used 4941 anti-venom. The Department of Medical Service has kept 656 anti-venom. The Agricultural Development is mainly responsible for the prevention against snake bites and knowledge dissemination about the dangers of snakes. Health Department is sharing knowledge about treatment plans.

The region sees more snakebites case as the rural people in Ayeyawady Region have to rely on farming.
