Due to the spread of the deadly coronavirus in Wuhan, China, there are low inflows and outflows of people at Muse border gate on Myanmar-China. Around 10,000 people continue to return to Myanmar a day.
U Thaung Tun from Muse Gayunar Social Organization said: “The inflow and outflow of people at the border gates is usual despite a decline in the number. China keeps its border gate open. Those who want to enter China have to fill in the document, wear face masks and undergo medical checkup. The number of the people who enter China is relatively low. The number of the people who return to Myanmar is higher. Three border gates receive the arrivals of more than 10,000 people a day.”
Heath staff and 14 social organizations are carrying out thermal screening on the people and the distribution of face masks, at Nandaw, Hsinphu and Manwane gates on China-Myanmar border.
Due to the virus fears, 116 Myanmar migrants workers from Monywa, Kantbalu, Taungdwingyi and Kyaukpadung returned to Muse via Ruili of China on 29 January and 153 workers via Mansi on 1 February, with the help of Myanmar consulate office in Ruili of China.
