The Thai government has announced that foreign migrant workers, including Myanmar workers, are allowed to work temporarily until 2025, the Myanmar Labour Attache Office in Thailand reported.

According to the decision made by the Thailand Government on July 5, migrant workers who have registered in the name list are allowed to extend their stay and work in Thailand. As a result, migrant workers are temporary allowed to stay and work from August 2023 to February 2025.  Employers have to apply to get legal working permit within 90 days of these exemption periods. Children under 18 are also allowed like their parents. Those who reach 18 are also allowed to stay 2025 and need to apply if desire to work, the statement said.

For MOU workers, Myanmar government agreed that who have worked 4 years and who will be 4 years working in Thailand, they have to leave Thailand and can enter after 30days. But, if the workers have correct documents, they can enter and work in Thailand within one or two days according to the statement made by the Myanmar Labour Attache Office in Thailand.

Majority of Myanmar migrant workers are working in Thailand and most of them are arrested due to illegal entry into Thailand.
