Micro blood bank, blood collection centre under construction in Rakhine State

With the help of a team of Japan International Cooperation Agency, machines and equipment are being installed for a micro blood bank at Buthidaung Township Hospital in Rakhine State, while the construction of a blood collection centre has finished by 70 percent, according to the Ministry of Health and Sports.

Hospitals and clinics of the Public Health Department in Rakhine State have been announced to be places protecting those who seek medical treatment. Healthcare is being provided without discrimination of race or religion. With the help of JICA, a micro blood bank is being established," said an official from the Public Health Department.

Eleven station hospitals in nine townships of Rakhine State, staff housings and medical wards are being upgraded and the state government is cooperating with the union government and social aid organizations in providing healthcare and equal access to medical treatment without discrimination across the state.

The areas of those hospitals and clinics have been designated as a protected zone.

Moreover, authorities are speeding up measures to reduce malnutrition and preparations for providing healthcare for children and pregnant women who will be among those returning from Bangladesh.

The Ministry of Health and Sports is providing all-round healthcare services as a special priority to reduce malnutrition in collaboration with World Food Programme, which is providing food supplements and vitamins.

The ministry has also drawn Rakhine Health Development Plan.
