A man threatened the manager of a Denko petrol station near the Mon State government office in Sitkegone Ward, Mawlamyine, on December 20 and demanded money by telephone, sources said.
"He said he is from an armed organization and asked for five million kyats,” a person close to the gas station said.
In addition to threats, he sent a phone message, threatening to send a hand grenade tonight, a person close to the gas station said.
According to a resident of the neighborhood, the security forces had to conduct surveillance near the Denko gas station on the night of December 20 because the manager of the Denko gas station was threatened.
