A man drowned while bathing in the Mandalay Canal near Yethik Village, Patheingyi Township, Mandalay Region, around 3:40 pm. on May 9. According to the Myanmar Fire Department, the victim, believed to be around 30 years old, has not yet been identified.

In response to the report, five members of the Patheingyi Township Fire Department, 10 reserve firefighters, a Daungphan fire engine, and three members of the Shwe Kyai Si Social Welfare Association launched a search operation.

The body was recovered at 4:08 pm. and transported to Mandalay General Hospital by an ambulance from the Shwe Kyai Si Social Welfare Association at 4:15 pm.
