Lawyers give arguments whether to charge or not against Former State Counsellor

NAYPYITAW------According to the testimonies of former Yangon Chief Minister Phyo Min Thein who testified that he gave gold and US dollars to the former State Counsellor, both sides of lawyers gave the arguments whether there will be a lawsuit or not against the state counselor, according to the sources.

The court hearing for the state counselor charged with corruption was held at the Special Court in the compound of Nay Pyi Taw Council Area yesterday morning.

Although there had been trials to investigate the cases of the former state counselor who was charged against anti-corruption law, getting the land plots for Daw Khin Kyi Foundation, hiring land plots and buildings for opening of Daw Khin Kyi Foundation and constructing of one-story building at the La Yaung Taw Horticulture vocational project in Nay Pyi Taw, plaintiff witness Dr Pwint Thandar Kyaw didn’t appear at the court.

The date of trial for only former state counselor was changed at the yesterday court hearings.

So, the charges are being heard every Monday in a special court in Nay Pyi Taw.

But, the date of court hearings of Australian Sean Turnell who was charged along with the former state counselor and three former Cabinet ministers of Planning and Finance on charges of violating Myanmar’s official secrets law was designated to hold every Friday.

The former state counselor already faced five new charges over helicopter purchase.
