On January 26, a joint team of the Anti-Narcotics Police and the Myanmar Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC Myanmar) arrested seven individuals in Tachilek Township, eastern Shan State.

The team had received information that an illegal armed group had arrived at a mobile phone shop in Saasai ward (A), in Tachilek, around 6:30 pm on that day.

Upon searching the mobile shop, the team found four pistols, seven bullet houses, and 62 bullets. Among the arrestees were two Thai nationals and five Myanmar citizens. One of the Thai nationals was a wanted fugitive in drug-related cases in Thailand and Tachilek.

The five Myanmar citizens were identified as Kyaw Aye Tun (aka) Kyaw Tun Aye, San Main, Sai Kham Laung, Sai Say Kham, and Nyi Nat. Kyaw Aye Tun (aka) Kyaw Tun Aye is a member of the PaO National Liberation Organization (PNLO).

The Narcotics Control Police have stated that the arrestees are facing legal action and that the authorities are trying to track down and arrest more suspects involved in the drug trafficking network.
