Authorities have seized over 1 billion kyats worth of narcotics, including 30.8 kilograms of heroin and 154,000 stimulant pills, being transported from northern Shan State to Mandalay Region.
A joint task force, including members of the Anti-Narcotics Police, intercepted a Nissan Condor 6-wheel vehicle driven by Han Win Aung, accompanied by Nay Min Htet and Soe Moe Aung, in Pyigyitagon Township, Mandalay Region, at 5:30 AM on March 9. Upon inspection, the vehicle was found to be carrying old cartoon-box paper and empty water bottles used to conceal the drugs. Hidden inside 3,080 plastic detergent containers were 30.8 kilograms of heroin and 154,000 stimulant pills.
Investigations revealed that the seized narcotics were being transported from northern Shan State to Mandalay Region for sale. Authorities arrested Tin Win in Pyigyitagon Township, Mandalay Region, and Ma Thiri Don and Ma Wah Wah Soe in Minbu Township, Magway Region, in connection with the case.
The suspects are being charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, and further investigations are ongoing to uncover additional individuals involved in the drug trafficking network.
