Ministry of Commerce issued 23,289 export-import licenses worth over seven billion USD through the online system in 2018. Plan is under way to issue all export-import licenses via online this year.

Since 2004, the Commerce Ministry started introducing the online export-import license system. At  that time, entrepreneurs could submit the export-import license via online. Due to attached documents, policies, procedures and unstable internet network system, entrepreneurs had to take out the license certificates at the office in person.

In 2007, the ministry shifted the payment of application fees to e-payment system connected with Myanmar Citizens Bank (MCB). Since 2016, the ministry has introduced the fully online licensing system with some goods which do not need recommendations.

Currently, the ministry issues the licenses for 124 good times and CMP garment. Applicants can make the online payment via Myanmar Payment Union. Most of items which apply for the licenses are personal goods, machineries and agro products.

Now, the ministry is making technical upgrades of the online license system. The ministry is working on the issuance of licences for sea and border trades via online. The departments whose recommendations are need will be included in the system. In addition, the issuance of export-import company registration system and the certificates will be available online.
