Hteephoe Kalone checkpoint attacked in Hpa-an Township leaving two deaths

HPA-AN-----Hteephoe Kalone checkpoint was attacked in Hpa-an Township, Kayin State, on January 10th leaving two deaths of policeman and a member of Border Guard Force (BGF).

Sargent Aung Win Htut and Lance Corporal Myat Kyaw Han from Industrial Zone Police Station in Hpa-an Township as well as two members from BGF carried out the check on vehicles and motorbikes at the Hteephoe Kalone checkpoint situated on Hpa-an-Hlaingbwe motor road, about one mile distance of the north from Industrial Zone Police Station in Hpa-an Township on January 10th aiming for regional security.

Meanwhile, Honda fit car carrying unknown armed group opened about 30-gunfire on the security members and then they run away to the Hlaingbwe Township, Kayin State.

During the shooting, two security members died on the spot and other two security members got minor injuries, according to the police’s report.

Currently, the injured security members are sent to Taungkalay Hospital in Hpa-an Township.
