The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) has issued a weather advisory indicating the likelihood of scattered to widespread rainfall, including isolated heavy downpours, across various regions and states in Myanmar between May 14 and May 20.
Due to the unstable air condition over the Andaman Sea and South Bay of Bengal, continuations of southwest monsoon advancement and development of the convective clouds, rain or thundershowers are likely to be fairly widespread to widespread in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Mandalay, Bago, Magway, Sagaing, Ayeyawady and Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Mon, Rakhineand Shan States from tonight to 17 May 2025 and fairly widespread to widespread in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Mandalay, Magway, Sagaing and Ayeyawady Regions and Kachin, Chin, Rakhine, Shan States and scattered in Bago, Taninthayi Regions and Kayah, Kayin and Mon States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in some areas during 18 May 2025 to 20 May 2025.
People should be aware of the natural disasters such as the heavy rainfall with strong wind, thunder, lightning strike, lightning, hails, flash floods and landslides in the hilly areas and near small rivers and inland water transport and domestic flights.
