A total of 36,422 workers have been provided employment in Thailand by accepting job applications through the online system when sending workers to Thailand, said U Myint Naung, Union Minister for Labour.

The Union Minister said this in a meeting with the executive members of the Myanmar Overseas Employment Agencies Federation (MOEAF) regarding the process of dispatching workers through the MOU system held at the Ministry of Labour's meeting hall on January 31.

Union Minister U Myint Naung said that the ministry is accepting job calls online from January 1, 2024, in order to speed up the process of sending workers to Thailand. A total of 1,126 copies of job applications received through the online system to date and 36,422 workers have been provided with foreign jobs.

Regarding the process of dispatching labourers to Thailand, since it is difficult to travel to send workers to Thailand, the agencies are sending workers to Myawady town with their own plans, and they have allowed the dispatching process to ensure that the laborers arriving in Myawady town are not harmed. As the Myawady-Mae Sot route for sending laborers to Thailand is difficult, the minister negotiated with the Thai Labour Minister to send the laborers via the Yangon-Don Mueang air route, and since the Thai side agreed, the labourers would be allowed to be sent by air, the union minister said.

After that, officials from the MOEAF and the leaders of the Thai business committee presented the possibility of increasing and changing the service fee on the Myanmar side and clarified the conditions of the MOU labor dispatch operations, and the Union Minister and officials coordinated.
