At the invitation by Chairman of the State Administration Council Senior General Min Aung Hlaing for peace talks, a delegation led by Vice Chairman of United Wa State Party (UWSP) U Lau Yaku arrived in Nay Pyi Taw on May 29.
The delegation arrived at the Horizon Lake View Resort on the morning of May 29 by motorcade, and was welcomed by a member of the National Unity and Peace Coordinating Committee and other responsible personnel, and members of the national races from the Department of Culture holding signboards stating "It is the genuine wish of the entire people to get long-lasting peace, it is the wish of the people to achieve peace, let us negotiate for peace in the nation", and waving miniature national flags.
The UWSP delegation team is the fourth to arrive in Nay Pyi Taw to discuss peace along with RCSS/SSA, NMSP and KNU/KNLA-PC that have signed NCA agreement.
The fourth delegation UWSP that had come to Nay Pyi Taw to negotiate peace with SAC Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing has yet to sign the NCA agreement.
On April 22 Senior General Min Aung Hlaing invited the ethnic armed organizations to achieve peace and bring an end to all conflicts. Accordingly seven EAOs that have signed the NCA and three others that have not signed the NCA responded to the invitation, as mentioned the spokesperson of the State Administration Council Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun.
