A Chinese teacher who slapped students as a form of discipline at a school in the UWSA-controlled Monglin District has been arrested by the UWSA, according to a report by the local news outlet Wa News Land.

The incident came to light after a video of the Chinese teacher slapping students who were unable to keep up with their lessons spread on social media on June 6. Following the circulation of the video, the UWSA’s judicial department launched an investigation and is taking action against the teacher, as confirmed by U Nyi Rang, the UWSA’s liaison officer in Lashio, in a response to Wa News Land.

"We have already arrested this teacher and are conducting investigations. Appropriate punishments will be imposed, and necessary actions will be taken," said U Nyi Rang.

The UWSA is known for arresting offenders in their territory and publicly administering punishments. However, it remains unclear how the detained Chinese national will be dealt with in this case.
