Children in conflict area needs protection: report

Children in conflict hit areas need urgent protection, according to a report made by Save the Children.

There are 9.3 percent of child workers in Myanmar with the rate of children forcibly married before coming of age is at 11 percent.

While there are some remarkable progresses  in some sectors within 20 years  such as getting health care, education, nourishment and protection, child worker, underage marriage but there are some challenges that remain. Child mortality rate under 5 years, stunted growth and school dropout rate are the things faced by children in entire Myanmar. The mortality rate under 5 years is at 48.6 per 1000, stunted growth rate is 29.3 percent, school dropout rate is 18.8 percent.

Conflict hit areas are still the most dangerous places for children and responsible organizations have to prioritize protection to children living there.

"Children living in conflict hit areas see risk of abuse, violation, torture and stress. It may affect in their education and health, and in nourishment," said Mr. McGrath.

Save the Children is working to help children living in conflict across the world including in Yemen, Syria, Somalia, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Myanmar.
