A group of four young tenants who kidnapped the four-year-old child of their landlord and demanded a ransom of 50 million kyats were arrested by security forces at a construction site in Amarapura Township on January 22.

The child was safely rescued and returned to the parents.

The kidnappers, three young women and one young man, had rented a house in Ward-C in Pyigyitagon Township for two months. When the landlord asked them to vacate the house, they took the child and fled. They later sent a letter to the landlord, threatening to kill the child if they did not receive the ransom money at the Jade Garden house complex under construction.

The landlord alerted the authorities, who along with the construction workers, tracked down the kidnappers and apprehended them. The child was found unharmed and reunited with the family.
