Body of Myaing Gyi Ngu Sayadaw was carried back to his native town from the Bumrungrad International Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand via Mae Sot-Myawady road on October 14.

The car carrying the body of the Sayadaw arrived at No.1 Friendship Bridge, Myawady on the morning of October 14 and political parties, religious teams and devout followers carried the body around town.

Many of his followers and locals will attend the procession ceremony to carry the body back to Myaing Gyi Ngu.

The cremation of Myaing Gyi Ngu Sayadaw will be held before Friday which is his birthday, said Major Sai Kyaw, advisor and supervisor of border guard forces.

“The Myaing Gyi Ngu Sayadaw asked us not to wait too long to burn his body. The body will be placed at two-storey building inside his monastery,” said the major.

Myaing Gyi Ngu Sayadaw U Thuzana is a native of Noehta Village in Hlaingbwe Township, Kayin State and a race of Sakaw Karen. He was 71 years old and he was well respected from people across the country for his religious works and philanthropic efforts in Kayin State.

Mon Ethnic Affairs Minister Naing Tin Win and Pa-O Ethnic Affairs Minister Khun Myo Tint of Kayin State government, MP of Myawady Constituency, district and township administrators and people came to pay respect his body mournfully in Myawady.
