Authorities seize 2.1 million stimulant tablets worth of K 2.1 billion

The authorities seized 2.1 million stimulant tablets worth of K 2.1 billion while they were carrying out surprised checks in front of the monastery of No 3 village tract of Metmonmone, Nangsang Township, Loilem District, south of Shan State, according to Shan State Police Force.

While the anti-drug unit No 27 of Loilem together with the witnesses was carrying out surprised checks at about 4 pm on January 26, they stopped and searched a six-wheeled Nissan truck running from Kholan to Nangsang and discovered 2.1 million stimulant tablets worth of K 2.1 billion inside the front body of the truck.

Driver Kyaw Nyein Swe and spare Zaw Naing Oo were interrogated. Under the interrogation, the owner of the truck is Tha Tun Maung who is living in Sittwe.

Tha Tun Maung told them to give K 2.5 million per person. They left Sittwe on January 22 and arrived at the house of an unnamed Shan national in Karli, Kunhein Township on January 25. In Karli, Tha Tun Maung told them to meet in Taunggyi and he left for Taunggyi ahead.

 Upon arrival at Metmonmone village tract, Driver Kyaw Nyein Swe and spare Zaw Naing Oo were arrested together with 2.1 million stimulant tablets worth of K 2.1 billion. 

Nangsang police station filed a lawsuit against those involved in the seizure of stimulant tablets under Section 19 (A) and 21.
