Authorities change the final date to submit tender for elevated expressway

Ministry of Construction is changed the final date to submit tender to build elevated expressway in Yangon from October 30 to November 13, according to the announcement from the ministry on October 17.

The announcement said the ministry invited tender for first phase of the elevated expressway project in state owned newspapers and the ministry’s website on September 7. Now the ministry changed the final date to submit the tender to November 13 as the companies made a request to change the final date.

The ministry called for tender to build first phase of 27 kilometer long elevated expressway, which is included designing, engineering, financing, construction, running project and maintenance sectors.

The elevated expressway will facilitate to connect between downtown Yangon, Yangon port, Yangon International Airport, Mingaladon Industrial Zone and Yangon-Mandalay expressway. The ministry prepared for request for qualifications (RFQ) and preliminary information memorandum (PIM). People, who are interested for the RFQ and PIM, need to pay US$1,500 as non-refundable fee to the ministry.

Local and foreign investors can participate in the tender in line with the standardizations referred in RFQ.

Investors who have qualifications to compete the tender can submit the proposal to implement the project. The ministry can modify or amend the standardizations in the RFQ anytime and any reason and has authority to deny all applications or any of them, the announcement said.
