Armed men kill a policeman receiving medical treatment at Hpakant hospital

A group of armed men entered the compound of Hpakant hospital in two cars at 2:00 pm on September 25and killed a policeman who was receiving medical treatment, sources said.

According to a person close to the incident, the police officer who died was shot at the car they were riding in on September 21 when they went to be treated at Seik Mu Village Clinic.

He said, “Two cars entered carrying armed men and killed him. There are also injured people. The hospital's security team also fired back. There are also policemen who escaped by running through the Uru Creek next to the hospital. The man who died now had five injuries on the day he went to the clinic."

On September 21, an armed group opened fire on a car driven by four policemen in Sai Taung village of Seik Mu village tract, killing two policemen and injuring one.

On September 18, a joint KIA and PDF group attacked the sentry of Pantin Bridge in Maweng Ward, Hpakant.

On October 10, 2022, a police officer was shot dead and his car was taken away in Hpakant area. On September 10, 2022, three anti-narcotics policemen from the 53rd Narcotics Squad based in Hpakant town were injured in a shooting incident in front of a market in Maweng Ward, Hpakant town.

On August 3, 2022, a group of gunmen shot Police Captain Ko Ko Lwin from No.30 Police Battalion who was shopping at a grocery store in Hmawshan Village, Hpakant Township, killing the Police Captain and injuring a policeman. On July 5, 2022, the KIA arrested seven policemen, who went from Kamai town to Hpakant Township to testify, between Tadar Nyinaung and Khun Sanyang in Hpakant Township.

After February 1, 2021, the numbers of people killed in Hpakant area are nine in 2021, more than 20 in 2022, and around 50 people in 2023, and it is unknown that some of those arrested are still alive or not.
