A total of 76 monks from Theintawgyi monastery in Pabedan Township were returned to their monastery on October 13 after their health improved, sources said.
The authorities found 76 monks and 14 people who are helping monks from the Theintawgyi monastery are infected with COVID-19 virus on October 4 and the monastery was placed on lockdown.
The monks were put in quarantine at Abidama Yadana Gaya Beikman in Bahan Township, said MP Than Naing Oo of No.1 Pabedan Constituency.
“The authorities will take a swab test on all 76 monks today and 14 attendants have not arrived back,” said the MP.
Monks and nuns were infected with the virus in the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic and monks from Isein Ywama Payiyarti Monarstary had been infected with the virus.
