The authorities cut out internet services in Buthidaung, Yathedaung, Ponnakyun, Kyauktaw, Mrauk-U, Minbya, Myebon and Maungdaw townships in Rakhine State and Paletwa Township in Chin State from June 21, 2019 and provided 4G internet services in Maungdaw Township on May 2, 2020.

“We are partially glad that we can gain access to 4G internet services now. It will help the economy. We are grateful for having the  internet services,” said Kyaw Kyaw Naing from Kyauktaw.

Locals from those townships asked for 4G internet services as internet connection was slow in their townships where 2G internet services were provided on August 2, 2020.

“We gain access to 4G internet services in Buthidaung since around midnight. So we can know what the country is like straight away,” said a local from Buthidaung.
