The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology reported that an earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale struck about five miles northeast of Pobbathiri Township in Naypyitaw.
The tremor, centered approximately 13 miles northeast of the Naypyitaw seismic station, occurred at 1:12 PM Myanmar Standard Time on April 1. The department classified it as a minor earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9.
This follows the powerful earthquake on March 28, which triggered a series of aftershocks. As of March 31, a total of 47 aftershocks had been recorded.
