Three million more doses of Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine donated by China have arrived in Myanmar, and vaccination will prioritize students aged 12 and above and categorized groups, according to the Ministry of Health.

Those vaccine doses arrived in batches in the country—the first one million doses on November 12, the second one million on November 21 and the third one million on November 21.

They will be transported to regions and states across the country as necessary.

The ministry reported that the country has obtained over 40 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines. A total of 31 million doses were purchased and over 9 million donated.

Myanmar started vaccinating in January 2021. Since September 14, vaccination coverage has been accelerated setting groups of priority such as those aged 55 and above, the disabled, members of the ethnic armed groups and their family members, migrant people, refugees and those suffering from critical diseases and non-communicable diseases.

The ministry of health has urged the people to actively participate the nationwide vaccination. People are urged to receive full doses of vaccines without fail, while those who have received first doses need to go to nearest vaccination points to receive second doses.
