17 injured in wax warehouse fire

Authorities have launched an investigation into the outbreak of fire at Zarmani wax warehouse in Industrial Zone-1 in Dagon Seikkan Township in Yangon on September 10, Yangon Region Fire Services Department

According to the investigation, the warehouse stored Iran-made waxes. There are thousands of bitumen barrels near the warehouse, and the warehouse is adjacent to the thinner factory and the Beauty hair shampoo factory. 

The department used 597 fire bridge members, 223 auxiliary fire bridge members, 50 fire engines, 21 water browsers, 697 gallons of foam and 250,000 gallons of water to extinguish the fire, according to the Yangon Region Fire Services Department. 

The warehouse fire took more than 3.5 hours. The department graded it as level-4 blaze. 

Due to the melting of waxes, 17 people—12 firefighters and five civilians—were injured in the warehouse fire. The injured were sent to Thingangyun Sanpya Hospital and Dagon Seikkan Township Hospital, according to the Yangon Region Fire Services Department.
