YANGON- Switzerland’s government will be carrying out poverty alleviation tasks, creating new job opportunities and implementing SME development tasks around Inle region, Southern Shan State, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
The Swiss Franc 4.8 million worth project will launch from 2018 to 2022, near Inle region, Taungyi Township, Southern Shan State.
Director General Aung Soe from Myanmar Trade Promoting Team, Giacomo Solari, Deputy Head of Mission from Switzerland Embassy in Myanmar and Andrew Kirkwood, Myanmar Country Director of UNOPS signed the the agreement on implementation of Upgrading Horticulture Supply Capacity and Sustainable Tourism to Development Business Linkages on July 12th.
Inle region is set to enjoy prosperity in eco-tourism development due to the state of the land that boasts many natural scenic zones, unique culture and customs attractive to tourists.
The project is also expected to boost farming industries in Inle region. The commerce ministry will participate in the implementation of the project together with the respective departments and organizations, says the commerce ministry’s Deputy Minister.
