A vehicle reportedly crashed into several other vehicles in the Zay Kyo Ward area of Mawlamyine, Mon State, on the evening of September 9.
The incident occurred at around 7 pm. when a white Chevrolet Malibu, bearing registration number BGO-11 7R/9958 and reportedly driven by a man identified as Soe Zeya Aung, was traveling from the Myintha Tharyar intersection toward the Zay Kyo Roundabout.
The Chevrolet first crashed into a Honda Fit that was parked by the roadside in front of the La Yone Win store near the roundabout. The driver then continued driving at speed and subsequently collided with a white Toyota BZ4X EV, which was traveling in the opposite lane from the Zay Kyo Roundabout toward Phat Khin Road.
According to an eyewitness, the Chevrolet was traveling at high speed from the Myintha Tharyar intersection toward the roundabout. It reportedly made a U-turn across the opposing lane and headed back toward the intersection before making another U-turn near Taw Kyu Monastery. It then struck the Honda Fit parked in front of the La Yone Win store.
The resident said that the traffic at the market was heavy at the time of the incident, and many people were scared and the road was blocked for about half an hour.
As a result, the left-hand front and rear doors of the HONDA FIT were damaged, the left-hand door of the BZ4X EV was damaged and the airbags inside the vehicle were deployed, and the front bumper of the CHEVROLET MALIBU was damaged and the airbags inside the vehicle were deployed, according to eyewitnesses.
Regarding the incident, Soe Zayar Aung (Ba) U Tint Khlong, 33, of Myaing Tharyar Extension Ward, Mawlamyine, was charged with driving a vehicle on a public road, intersection, or crosswalk with the intent to endanger the lives of people. A case has been registered under Section 279/307 of the Penal Code.
