The Myanmar Government has allocated K170 billion to support the development of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), with K150 billion being used for MSME loans, according to the second 2026 meeting of the MSME Development Fund Management Committee held on 10 August.

The meeting, held at the Ministry of Finance and Revenue, was chaired by Deputy Minister Daw Than Than Lin, who said the Government had relaxed loan procedures to make it easier for MSME entrepreneurs to obtain financing.

She said businesses unable to provide collateral would now be eligible for loans of up to K50 million under the Credit Guarantee Insurance (CGI) scheme, adding that measures were also being taken to ensure faster and more efficient loan disbursement.

Deputy Minister for Industry and MSME Development Dr Aung Zeya said the current maximum MSME loan limit of K100 million could be increased after reviewing and amending the relevant financial regulations. He added that the agency would continue to disseminate information on MSME loan policies and strengthen links with business owners in line with the national lending policy.

Committee members also reviewed the status of loan disbursements and remaining funds under the MSME Development Fund, discussed revisions to the loan assessment and approval process, and considered proposals to raise the maximum loan amount.

Concluding the meeting, the committee chair stressed the need to accelerate the assessment and approval of loans so that MSME entrepreneurs could gain timely access to the capital required to expand their businesses in line with the Government’s economic development policy.
