The Social Welfare Department’s preschool in Falam Township, Chin State, which had been temporarily closed for an extended period, was reopened on September 24, according to reports.

The reopening ceremony was held at the Social Welfare Department’s preschool in Falam. Deputy Minister Dr. Thant Zaw Lwin, Chin State Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Win Zaw Oo, and the state-level Social Welfare Department official attended the ceremony.

The Deputy Minister said that preschools operated by the Social Welfare Department in Hakha, Tedim and Falam had now been reopened with the leadership and support of the Chin State Government.

He also called for the expansion of preschool services across Chin State. He said that during the 2026–2027 financial year, teacher salaries and teaching materials would be provided to 68 self-reliant preschools in the state. Relevant government departments and local residents were also urged to support the long-term development of preschools.

Teaching aids, essential supplies and cash donations from well-wishers were subsequently presented by the Deputy Minister, the state minister and the secretary of the District Management and Administration Committee.

Rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts are continuing in Chin State, while education, healthcare and socioeconomic activities for returnees in Falam are gradually returning to normal, according to the report.

Falam previously had three preschools, and two of them have now been reopened.
