The Ministry of Energy has temporarily revoked the license of the “Sein Si Aung” petrol station on the old Yangon–Mandalay Road and issued warnings to about 30 other petrol stations for selling fuel without scanning barcodes and QR codes.
To make it more convenient for the public to purchase petrol, the upgraded bar code and QR code, which specifies the purchase amount according to the engine power capacity, has been sold in the Nay Pyi Taw Council area, Yangon, Mandalay and Taunggyi towns since March 27, 2026. The system is being implemented in other cities as well. The call center is open to help resolve any difficulties in purchasing petrol and is responding to inquiries from 6 am to 10 pm daily.
If the public has any questions about the difficulties they encounter in purchasing petrol or the news releases, they can contact the Ministry of Energy’s call center. If one finds that fuel is being sold at a higher price than the specified reference price, fuel is not sold in the specified quantities, fuel is not sold even though it is available, bar codes and QR codes are not scanned, and illegal sales are being made in containers, they can contact the above-mentioned call center numbers to report the incident.
In order to take effective action against complaints with complete information, the license of the “Sein Si Aung” fuel station on the Yangon-Mandalay main road (old road) in Paleik Village, Singaing Township, Mandalay Region has been temporarily closed according to the management method, and effective action is being taken against the responsible persons of the shop in accordance with the law.
In addition, the Ministry of Energy's online monitoring center has recently issued a warning to about 30 fuel stations that were found to be selling fuel without scanning the bar code and QR code of all vehicles sold. If they are found to be selling fuel without scanning the bar code and QR code, effective action will be taken, according to the Ministry of Energy.
