People are not allowed to walk on the Yangon-Dala Bridge, according to residents lived near the bridge.
A resident near the bridge said that they heard that the bridge is closed to public from Monday to Friday and will be allowed on Saturdays and Sundays.
“As far as I know, it has been closed to people since yesterday. I heard that people are not allowed to walk on the bridge on the days between Monday and Friday and will be allowed on Saturdays and Sundays,” he said.
Starting from February 12, vehicles will be divided into four groups to use the Yangon-Dala Bridge and charged at the set rate.
The tolls to be charged by vehicle type are 500 kyats for vehicles under 3 tons, 1,000 kyats for small passenger vehicles such as Canter, Light Truck and Dyna, 2,000 kyats for medium size passenger vehicles such as mini bus, BM, Hino and Hyundai, and 2,000 kyats for small trucks such as six-wheelers, eight-wheelers, and 4,000 kyats for trucks.
In addition, vehicles that are not in good condition will not be allowed to pass.
The Yangon Region Private Transport Committee (YRTC) has announced that YBS buses will run to the Dala Township after the Yangon-Dala Bridge opened.
"We tested the YBS buses yesterday. We have submitted them for operation. We will start operating them once we receive permission," said U Lyan Cin Mang, an official from the YRTC.
After the Myanmar-Korea Friendship (Dala) Bridge opened on February 6, the YRTC, led by Committee Member (1) U Khin Maung Htwe, along with officials from YBPC and YUPT Public Company Limited, run a test run using two Forton buses from YBS 58 under the management of YUPT Public Company Limited, with about 40 staff on each bus, one Ankai bus from YBS 72 and one Youtong bus from YBS 108, operated by YBPC Public Company Limited, with about 30 staff on each bus.
