Myanmar forecasts cooler temperatures, light rain and widespread fog in early December

The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology announced that during the first ten days of December, temperatures in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Bago, Taninthayi, Kayah, Kayin, Mon and Shan States may fall slightly below the December average.

According to the weather forecast for the first ten days of December 2025, a low-pressure area may form once over the Andaman Sea and the Bay of Bengal. Light cloudiness is expected over the northern and east-central Bay of Bengal, while moderate to fairly dense cloud cover may develop over the Andaman Sea and the rest of the Bay of Bengal.

Regarding rainfall, rainfall levels may be lower than usual in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Mandalay, Bago, Magway, Sagaing and Ayeyawady Regions, as well as in Kachin, Kayah, Chin, Rakhine and Shan States. In Taninthayi Region, Kayin State and Mon State, scattered to fairly widespread showers are possible.

As for rainy days, two to three days of rain are likely in northern Sagaing Region, Taninthayi Region, Kachin State, Kayin State, Chin State and Mon State. Yangon Region, eastern and southern Bago Region, Ayeyawady Region and Shan State may see around one day of rain. Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay Region, western Bago Region, Magway Region, southern Sagaing Region, Kayah State and Rakhine State may experience moderate cloudiness.

Night temperatures in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon Region, Bago Region, Taninthayi Region, Kayah State, Kayin State, Mon State and Shan State may drop to 1.5°C (or 35°F) below the December average. In Mandalay, Magway and Sagaing Regions, and in Ayeyawady Region, Kachin State, Chin State and Rakhine State, night temperatures are expected to remain around the December average.

For fog conditions, dense morning fog may occur for five to nine days in Mandalay, Sagaing and Ayeyawady Regions, as well as in Kachin, Kayah, Chin, Mon and Shan States. In Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Bago, Magway and Taninthayi Regions, and in Kayin and Rakhine States, dense morning fog may occur for one to four days.
