The Ministry of Commerce has issued a statement clarifying that the letter circulating online claiming to allow ministry employees to purchase vehicles is fake.

The ministry stated that it has not released any recent announcement regarding the permission for public servants or civil servants to buy vehicles. The original statement on this matter was published in state-owned newspapers on September 30, 2020, but was officially suspended on October 1, 2021.

According to the ministry, the false information currently spreading on social media originated from a repost of the old 2020 announcement shared through Facebook memories. The fake document was deliberately edited and circulated with the intent to disrupt stability in the automobile market, the ministry added.
