At the 37th anniversary ceremony of the National Unity Party (NUP) in Yangon on September 24, Chairman U Han Shwe said the upcoming general election will be a crucial turning point for reviving elections in Myanmar and advancing the country toward democracy.

He noted that the multiparty democratic elections, scheduled for December 2025 and January 2026, could bring positive changes for the nation’s politics, peace, rule of law, public stability, socio-economic growth, and international cooperation.

The chairman added that the NUP is preparing politically, organizationally, and administratively to compete in the elections, and the party will also take part in peace processes after the vote as part of its national duty.

U Han Shwe stressed that the NUP would work with the people to ensure free, fair, and peaceful elections, continuing its tradition of participating in past elections lawfully and responsibly.
