The Chinese Embassy in Myanmar led a ceremony to pay homage to the martyrs of the Chinese Expeditionary Force at a memorial monument in Taungoo on August 7, according to sources.
As the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War approaches, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ms. Ma Jia led more than 150 embassy staff, Chinese businessmen in Myanmar, state media reporters, student representatives, ethnic Chinese in Myanmar, and descendants of the Chinese Expeditionary Force to pay homage to the martyrs of the Chinese Expeditionary Force in Taungoo on August 7, the Chinese Embassy said in a statement.
At the ceremony, Ambassador Ms. Ma Jia read a memorial plaque and laid flowers and wreaths at the memorial stone of the Chinese Expeditionary Force, after which everyone stood in silence to pay homage to the martyrs.
Then, Ambassador Ma Jia and others toured the Chinese Expeditionary Force's Anti-Japanese War History Museum, and said that the Chinese Expeditionary Force made important achievements in the victory of the world anti-fascist war. We must cherish history and love peace, continue to uphold the China-Myanmar fraternal friendship, and promote the building of a China-Myanmar community of shared future and prosperity in the new era.
At the request of the Chinese Embassy and Consulate in Myanmar, Chinese business organizations and local Chinese associations in Myanmar laid flowers and wreaths at the memorials of the Chinese Expeditionary Force in Yenangyoung and Myitkyina townships, where the Chinese Expeditionary Force fought, and bowed their heads in respect, the embassy said.
