Heavy rains caused the Thaungyin River to rise due to the intensity of the storm, causing flooding in Myawady, on the Myanmar-Thailand border, from July 23 to 25 and now, on July 26, after the Thaungyin River receded, a collective effort is being made to clear the remaining garbage and mud, according to sources.

Due to the fact that the streets in low-lying neighborhoods are filled with garbage and mud, departments, armed groups, and neighborhood administration groups, under the guidance of the Myawady District Administrator and the leadership of the Township Development Committee, are systematically managing and collectively clearing streets by neighborhood, said Ward No. 3 Administrator U Shwe Tin.

“What is causing the difficulties is that there is a lot of garbage and mud. Yesterday, we cleaned No.2 Basic Education High School in Shwe Myawady compound. Today, we are cleaning the main school. The municipal, fire brigade members, DKBA forces, BGF forces, police, social organizations, and charitable organizations are working together. They cleaned up all the low-lying roads. There are many difficulties. Myawady is located in low-lying area. The water level of the Thaungyin River rises every year, so we face difficulty every year. There are also many losses for the people,” he said.

About 200 members of the Union Solidarity and Development Party and the Democratic Karen Buddhist Army (DKBA - NCA) cleared the main school and classrooms in Myawady Ward No. 2.

"The troops are clearing the mud, silt, and debris left behind after the flood. There are about 200 troops. Other organizations are also involved. We can do it with water bowsers, backhoes, buckets, shovels, and brooms. The next day, we will help where needed. We will help where needed," said Lt. Col. Saw Than Maung, DKBA Trade Officer.

Similarly, the No. 2 Ward, No. 2 Khun Sa Win lower valley, No. 5 Ward, Thae Pone Gate, Thayet Pin Gate, and Kyauk Pya Gate lower valley are also being cleared of debris and mud by various teams.
