The Rotary Club of Mandalay is reportedly providing school supplies worth about 50,000 kyats each to children in Grade 1 and 2 from earthquake-affected areas in Mandalay Region, according to sources.

The initial priority is to provide assistance to those who have lost one or both parents, lost their livelihood, or have suffered physical injuries due to the earthquake.

The initiative, organized by the Rotary Club of Mandalay, will provide a backpack, school supplies, and a dozen blank books per child, worth about 50,000 kyats.

The initial goal is to provide assistance to 5,000 students, and so far, about 3,000 donations have been received.

"There are more than 21,000 earthquake-affected students in Mandalay Region. The initial priority will be given to 5,000 students, but we will also provide assistance to all of them. This is to help children who have had difficulty going to school due to the earthquake to return to school," explained Dr. Naing Win Htet of the Rotary Club of Mandalay.

Donors who wish to donate can contact the Rotary Club of Mandalay to donate 50,000 kyats per student.
