A total of 300 Chinese nationals involved in telecom fraud and other criminal activities have been extradited, sources said.

The 300 Chinese nationals who illegally entered Myanmar through border routes and engaged in illegal online gambling, online fraud and criminal activities in the Shwe Kokko and KK Park areas of Myawady, Kayin State, were systematically transferred to their respective countries via Thailand on the morning of February 21 in accordance with legal procedures, in the spirit of humanitarianism and friendship between the two countries.

According to the confessions of the Chinese nationals who were transferred, most of them initially arrived in Bangkok, Thailand, and then in Mae Sot, a border town on the Myanmar-Thailand border, and were illegally taken by telecom fraud agents to cross the Thaung Yin (Moei) River on the Thai-Myanmar border and forced to participate in online fraud and online gambling in the Myawady-KK Park area.

The government is working with neighboring countries and international organizations to investigate and combat telecom fraud and criminal activities, and is systematically transferring foreign nationals involved in these activities to their respective countries.

The state is taking steps to identify and arrest those involved in online scam center operations and foreigners behind them, and to take effective and severe action. It is also cooperating to quickly deport foreigners who are suffering and foreigners who have been trafficked to their respective countries.
