Over 150 international brands showcased their products through more than 100 exhibition booths at the International Generator and Solar Energy Storage Expo, which began on January 10 at the Yangon Convention Center. The event runs daily from 9 am. to 5 pm. and will continue until January 12.
Exhibitors from China, Thailand, and India were among the companies presenting advanced technologies and products related to renewable energy and solar energy storage.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Win Ye Khine, Chief Financial Officer of Great United Green Energy Company, highlighted the significance of renewable energy and technological advancements.
“We have been planning to participate in this event for a long time. Renewable and solar energy have seen remarkable growth globally, with increasing adoption worldwide. As a technology-focused company, we aim to share our expertise with the public and also learn from the innovations presented by other participants, particularly companies from China and beyond,” Dr. Win Ye Khine said.
The expo provides a platform for companies to exhibit cutting-edge energy solutions, exchange knowledge, and collaborate on the future of renewable energy technologies.
In addition to solar and generators, electronic products were also displayed at the exhibition, and many people were interested in solar panels, battery-powered smart inverters, and solar energy.
Currently, there are power outages in many areas, including Yangon. Due to low power generation, the Ministry of Electric Power announced that the entire country, including Yangon, Nay Pyi Taw, and Mandalay, is being provided with electricity on a rotating basis.
Currently, the average daily generation is only about 2,200 megawatts, which is less than 50 percent of the electricity supply. As a result, the ministry has decided to distribute power proportionally to Yangon Region by January 2025, 48 percent to Yangon Region, 17 percent to Mandalay Region, and 35 percent to the remaining regions and states.
According to the proportional distribution of power, Yangon Region is divided into three groups, each group is on for four hours and off for eight hours, and The Ministry of Electric Power announced that power is being distributed in Mandalay Region with a three-hour on and nine-hour off rotation system divided into four groups and a four-hour on and 12-hour off rotation system divided into four groups. In the Pyihtaungsu area of Nay Pyi Taw, the public is provided with an average of 16 hours on and eight hours off per day, and the staff housing is provided with an 18-hour on and four-hour off rotation system, and in the remaining regions and states, power is being distributed in a six-hour rotation system per group.
