Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Senior General Min Aung Hlaing emphasized the need to resolve political issues through dialogue and political methods rather than armed struggle, noting that armed terrorism has no place in human society.

He shared these views during the Christmas Thanksgiving and Fellowship Dinner organized by the Christian Church Associations of Myanmar at St. Mary’s Cathedral Church in Botahtaung Township, Yangon, on December 22.

The Senior General underlined that individuals have the right to freedom of faith, as enshrined in the 2008 Constitution.

He highlighted the role of religions in fostering peace and prosperity, asserting that a peaceful society begins with individuals achieving peace of mind.

He called for tolerance, forgiveness, and the rejection of extremism and bigotry, emphasizing the harmonious coexistence of Myanmar's diverse ethnicities and religions.

Addressing religious leaders, he encouraged them to guide their followers toward wisdom and positive mindsets.

The SAC Chairman reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening the multi-party democratic system desired by the people and resolving societal issues through peaceful coexistence and dialogue.

Senior General Min Aung Hlaing recognized Christianity as Myanmar’s second-most practiced religion after Buddhism and acknowledged the significant role of Christian organizations in contributing to the nation's stability and prosperity.

He urged all to foster a peaceful and harmonious society through mutual understanding and tolerance, not only within Myanmar but globally.

He extended Christmas greetings and blessings to all attendees.

The ceremony included a Bible reading by Sister Mary Zin Mar Swe, a sermon by Archbishop Cardinal Charles Bo, and blessings for Myanmar by Rev. Dr. Aye Min.

Distinguished attendees included the Senior General’s wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Council Joint Secretary General Ye Win Oo and his wife, council members, Union ministers, senior Tatmadaw officers, the Yangon Region Chief Minister, the commander of Yangon Command, and interfaith representatives.
