A mild earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9 on the Richter scale occurred near Kyankhin Township on December 1, according to a report from the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology.
The report states that the earthquake struck at approximately 2:27 PM on December 1, 2024. Its epicenter was located within Myanmar, about 90 miles southwest of the Taungoo Seismological Station, approximately 4 miles west-northwest of Kyankhin Township, at a latitude of 18.35°N, longitude of 95.19°E, and a depth of 50 kilometers
