Multiple earthquakes strike Myanmar in November, with magnitudes ranging from 3.5 to 4.9

On November 29, 2024, at around 11:32 AM, a small earthquake with a magnitude of 3.5 on the Richter scale occurred near the city of Lèwei, with its epicenter approximately 24 kilometers away. The earthquake's tremors were reported by the Meteorology and Hydrology Department and were confirmed by the Seismology Department. The earthquake occurred in the western region of the Naypyidaw seismic station.

Additionally, on the evening of November 20, 2024, an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.5 on the Richter scale, having a mild intensity, was recorded near Kyaiklat, approximately 3 miles west of the city. The earthquake occurred at 5:48 PM, and the epicenter was located 42 miles to the southwest of the Global Seismology Center.

On November 26, 2024, at around 2:33 PM, another earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9 was recorded, with its epicenter located 113 miles southwest of the Myitkyina Seismological Station, near the southern region of the country, about 27 miles west of Moenyin and 22 miles south of Moenyin. This earthquake was registered at 24.70 degrees north latitude and 95.90 degrees east longitude, close to the location of Lèwei, about 14 miles southwest of the city.
