Myanmar and India have discussed plans to appoint English language instructors from India on a long-term basis at universities in Myanmar.
The discussions took place on May 19 during a meeting between Myanmar’s Union Minister for Education, Dr. Chaw Chaw Sein, and Indian Ambassador to Myanmar, H.E. Mr. Abhay Thakur, at the Ministry of Education in Nay Pyi Taw.
During the meeting, both sides discussed the long-term deployment of Indian English teachers at designated universities in Myanmar, opportunities for 30 teachers to attend short-term English proficiency courses at Indian universities, and scholarship programs for teachers from education degree colleges.
Deputy Minister Dr. Zaw Myint and other officials also attended the meeting.
